Alumni accounts will be deactivated beginning on January 1 of the year following graduation.*  Below are some suggested actions that alums should take before accounts are deactivated:
Create (or begin using) a new email account
The easiest path forward will be transitioning to a new Google account where you can move your Connecticut College Google Workspace items.
	- Set up email forwarding so that emails sent to your @conncoll.edu address are forwarded to your new email account. Emails will continue to be forwarded until your account is deactivated.
- Set up an auto-responder, to let senders know that you will be using a new email address going forward. Senders can receive any auto-response until the time that your account is deactivated.
- Change the contact information on any external services or accounts (e.g. banking, gaming, streaming services) to your new email address
- Update your contact information here at Conn so that we can keep in touch with you!

Download or transfer your Google Workspace data to another account
	- Transfer the ownership of any Drive files that should remain at the college to someone else. If you are the owner on any Drive files that were used in collaboration with a faculty or staff member as part of a research project or student employment, or if you own files that were part of a student organization, those files should be transferred before your account is deactivated. After your account is deactivated, collaborators will no longer have access to any files on which you were the owner.
- Download important data using Google Takeout. You can select which specific Google services you would like to download. It is recommended that you restrict the size of downloads and download only one service at a time.

* For class years 2025 and earlier, deactivation will begin on March 1, 2026
