Content can be copied from one Moodle site to another or restored from a backup file in order to re-use content from a previous semester.
Copying from an Active Moodle Site

Log into Moodle and navigate to your new, empty course site.

Click the More tab at the top of the page under the course title, and select Course Transfer

Click Import

Select the course with the content you want to import, and click Continue. Use the search box to find a course if it does not appear in the list of your most recent courses.

On the next screen, click Jump to final step.

Click Continue and you will be taken to your course with imported content.
After copying your course content, you may have two copies of the “Academic Support links” block at the top of your course page. If so, please leave the first one intact and delete the second one. The first one will be the latest version of the block.
Restoring a Moodle Course from a Backup File
You can restore the content from a site that is no longer active if you have access to a Moodle backup file for that course. Moodle backup files have a file extension of .mbz.

Log into Moodle and navigate to your new, empty course site.

Click the More tab at the top of the page under the course title, and select Course Transfer

Click Restore

Upload your course backup file (.mbz) by dragging and dropping it into the box or clicking the Choose a file... button

After the filename appears on the screen, click the blue Restore button

On the next screen, click Continue.

On the next screen, under the Restore into this course section, click on Continue

Click the blue Next button on the following two screens

Click the Perform restore button

Click Continue and you will be taken to your course with imported content.
